Update Registered Owner Details

In Case Folders created prior to 2022, a single ‘Update Registered Owner Details’ transaction allows changes for any number of registered owners on a single folio. 

This transaction has been updated in 2022, allowing updates to any number of owners within up to 10 folios.


Use this transaction to request a change of name or address for any registered owner.
New names you supply here will be available for use in transactions you add to this Case Folder and will appear on any Draft Forms you subsequently generate within the Case Folder.
To request rectification where owner names have been recorded incorrectly on the folio, map or Register (i.e. Names Index) due to Land Registry error, you should use the Rectification of Registry Error transaction.

Transaction Step A:  Select the folio(s) for the transaction

  • Up to 10 folios can be selected per transaction.
  • You may request updates for the owners of up to 10 folios.
  • Select the folio(s) to update and click ‘Next Page’.  

 

Transaction Step B: Supply Owner Details
For each owner to be updated:
•    Enter current registered owner name (exactly as stated on the folio(s))
•    If the name is changing, you will be asked to enter the owner name exactly as it should appear on the folio(s).  You will also be asked if the updated name is to stay on the folio, and if the name(s) currently quoted on the folio(s) is/are incorrect because of a change of name consequent on marriage, civil partnership, separation, or divorce.
•    Supply new address details (if these are to be updated).
•    Confirm which folio(s) should be updated for this owner
    When all owner details are added, click ‘Next Page’.  

Transaction Step C: Supply Document details
If all updates relate solely to change of address, you will not be asked for any supporting evidence.
Any number of Solicitor’s Certificates may be added, and single documents may cover changes to several names and folios.  
For each Certificate you will be supplying:
•    Enter the document date
•    Select which folio(s) and owner name(s) are covered by the Certificate 

When all three panels are complete (folio(s) selected, update details added, document(s) added), the transaction can be completed.
